Small town charm

The Red Cottage is located between the towns of Black Mountain and Montreat, with shops, attractions, and entertainment available less than 1 mile in either direction.

In downtown Black Mountain you'll discover gift shops, restaurants, taverns, coffee shops, and a local Farmers' Market. Nearby Lake Tomahawk has an outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, croquet court, free concerts and a rental space for private events. Seasonal festivals, such as the Lake Eden Arts Festival (LEAF), the Sourwood Festival, Spartan Obstacle Races, and countless riding and running competitions. Montreat is known for great hiking/biking trails, creeks, and preserved woodland areas for your outdoor fun. The area is very pet-friendly, so look forward to bringing your pups along for the adventure!

Historic Asheville

If you choose to venture out for the big city, historical Asheville is just 15 miles west on Interstate 40. Known for historical landmarks like the Biltmore Estate, an eclectic food scene, and a wide range of arts and crafts, Asheville is a humming city nestled into the Blue Ridge mountains. Specialty shops, chocolatiers, and street performers line the active downtown. Looking for a taste of local flavor? With an active brewery scene, there is no shortage of new flavors to sample.
